To fathom the difference between line and stroke is a daily concern for me.

The medium of my work is drawing. This continues to open up new possibilities of expression for me, even after numerous years of occupation. A central aspect is the ad absurdum leading of the medium, which is as simple as it is complex. The series "brushstrokes", for example, consists of drawn large-format brushstrokes. What seems to have been created in a few moments is actually the result of a meticulous reconstruction consisting of thousands of individual lines. The line as a central element runs through my work just as much as the means I use. The series "fighter eraser" has its origins in my collection of erasers and the drawings in this series show individual set pieces from them, but without representing them in a concrete and representational way. The ambiguity of the abstract is a high value for me. Whether objects seemingly covered in hair represent body parts or are reminiscent of other objects of organic origin - such as the series "Frutti di Haare", which was created in Italy - is of secondary importance to me. While I consistently use the 3B strength in my choice of drawing medium, the pencil, as discussed in my diploma show "3B or not 3B", the series "fighter eraser" uses a unique pastel coloured pencil. Not only the means, but also the artistic practice is a recurring theme in my work. The exhibition at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Rome was entitled "nulla dies sine linea" - the works shown there revolve once again around my everyday life as an artist. Not a day without a line, without activity, without evolution in the broader sense. Capturing everyday life and my surroundings with the eyes and means of a draughtswoman is the basis and starting point of my work.

The portrait of the artist was photographed by Simon Krimplstätter.
