Artist Statement
In my installations, I mainly focus on the effects of culture on human perception. I search for interfaces of individual and collective experience.
"Constellation, not sequencing, carries the truth," says Olga Tokarczuk in her novel Flights. The Nobel laureate's stories visualise the state of never arriving, of the unattainability of the ultimate goal; they question the necessity of belonging to a place in order to develop an identity, which is a timely question for participation in the global culture of the present. In my own work, I explore the experience of globality and the particularities of attachment to places that parallel and connect with it. Along the intersections of nostalgia and utopia, of descendants and ancestors, of childhood and adulthood, of memory and fiction, I search for the constellations of human perception. Among the stations of existence, the period of childhood plays an important role in my work. In most of my works, I interpret childhood itself in a concrete and figurative sense as a multi-layered metaphor.
