  • Artist Statement

I use motifs from my immediate surroundings, often from the media, but also from everyday life. I draw or paint them in detail and remove them from their context by presenting them on a neutral background. I am interested in images that have meaning for many people - perhaps in a similar way, perhaps each in a very individual way. One of my largest series of works is called "found objects" (since 2015). In these drawings, I detach found things from their original
environment - including, for example, lost objects, dead animals, withered flowers, or rotting vegetables. Objects that would otherwise go unnoticed are here enhanced into works of art. I focus on the often unseen or ignored, I am interested in the story behind the motifs that are not very appealing at first glance. My images are documentary and narrative at the same time. Themes such as transience, ecology and the aesthetics of everyday life resonate. Each viewer adds a new level of content to the works. My latest colored pencil works on paper entitled "private structures" are also found objects - in the broadest sense. They are cutouts of blankets, upholstery, and bedding, delicately and precisely drawn to provide a glimpse into the most personal of spaces.
Private, whose stories remain untold. Textiles whose folds and patterns contain many years of personal memories.
