Nataliia Stryzhko
Travel Diary. China
Notes on a trip to China
Looking through the diary of a trip to China inspired the artist to create a memoir-quotes project. These memoirs are like colorful accents of past travels. Notes, photos, sketches and calligraphies - all these impressions have now been recreated by Nataliia Stryzhko in the paintings for this upcoming exhibition.Mentally, we are constantly in motion, like on a journey. Chinese philosophy suggests stopping the movement to feel the moment and enjoy it. The contradiction in content of "travel movement" and "stop in the moment" stimulates reflection, invites to let harmony into the thoughts and to accept reality.
Intercultural exchange in the modern world opens many opportunities to learn about cultures and art of other countries. By knowing and studying other cultures we feel our own culture and art more strongly. The energy of meditative contemplation is especially noticeable in the landscape works.
The exhibition Travel Diary.China presents the artist's vision of important symbols of China and the integration of traditions into a modern context.Nataliia Stryzhko, like many artists before her over the centuries, has been inspired by the incredible cultural diversity of China.
