Soft bodies, hard spaces
JULIA BELOVA I EGOR LOVKI I VIKTORIA MORGENSTERN I EVA YURKOVA
A cooperation between Bildrecht and Galerie Rudolf Leeb
Galerie Rudolf Leeb brings together four emerging positions of the young Viennese art scene in Bildraum Studio: Julia Belova, Egor Lovki, Viktoria Morgenstern and Eva Yurkova. With the means of painting and sculpture, the artists deal with the staging of techno-organic body images, with balance, adaptation and unruliness, subject constitution and (sexual) differentiation.

The exhibition is curated by Esther Mlenek.

*1991 in Tver, Russia.
Julia Belova's sculptural work deals with the style of Baroque aesthetics and the themes present in it, such as the relationship between intimacy and religion, corporeality and sexuality. From 2009 to 2015, she completed her academic training in ceramics and fine arts at the Academy of Art and Design in St. Petersburg. Since 2016 until now, she has been studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, taking an exchange semester at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm in 2019. Currently, the artist lives and works in Vienna. Last year, she won first prize with her work as an award for the 2020 BMWBF Diversity Management Award for Higher Education and Research Institutions.
Egor Lovki
*1997 in Kazan, Russia.
Egor Lovki's work deals with the juxtaposition of contrasts: among other things, through the combination of different media such as mosaic and oil paint, which differ in their texture and material character, as well as in terms of content through the interplay of elements from reality and fantasy. Real existing characters and situations from his personal everyday life are translated and expanded by fictional forms and imagery. Since fall 2020 he studies painting and animation film in the class of Univ.-Prof. Judith Eisler at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
Viktoria Morgenstern
*1989 in Vienna, Austria.
Since 2010 she works here as a freelance artist in the fields of sculpture, photography and drawing. In her sculptures and installations she mainly uses brass and steel due to flexible material properties. Her sculptural forms themselves find their origin in human physics - from movement to inner body structure to physical sensations. Parallel to her studies (2012 -2020) at the Academy of Fine Arts in the class for photography, Viktoria Morgenstern has already been active in various teaching positions, and taught at the Academy and the 21er Haus in Vienna, among others. In addition to participating in various exhibitions in and outside Vienna, the artist is currently focusing on the preparation of her diploma exhibition.
Eva Yurková
*1996 in Svitavy, Czech Republic.
Eva Yurková's artistic work focuses on the medium of woodcut as a printmaking technique, and related to interfaces within painting, installation and ceramic art. She has been studying in the Graphics and Printmaking class at the University of Applied Arts since 2016, and spent a semester at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig in 2019. Eva Yurková has already participated in various exhibitions in Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany, and will be represented by Rudolf Leeb Gallery at the first Parallel Editions art fair in Vienna at the end of May 2021.

The Image Space Studio
A spacious studio and an inspiring meeting place at the same time: With the Bildraum Studio, the copyright society Bildrecht is providing further impetus to Vienna's art scene. With 170 m2 of work space and an art terrace in front of it, it has been offering artists the opportunity to realize and present large-scale works and expansive projects since summer 2018.
The Bildraum Studio is located in the cultural area of the Brotfabrik Wien and is made available to a freelance artist for a period of six months after the decision of an expert jury. An on-site solo exhibition organized in cooperation with Bildrecht, optional studio walks and artist talks complement this Bildrecht initiative.
