Birgit Graschopf's photographs tell a story, are like film styles that freeze a moment of a story. In her works, however, she stages a moment whose story must first be told. The sensual experience is related to the choice of materials in terms of content, in order to deepen the emotionality of the isolated figures, some of which drift apart with the shadows.

Just as a mobile light source can be used to create a sculpture in front of a dark background in a long-term exposure on a photograph, Viktoria Morgenstern's sculptures are a form of intuitive drawings in space. In the creative working process, she searches for a way to develop and expand her sculptures beyond the purely visual or narrative level.

Both artists share the ambition to give impressions and emotions a new creative form in their artistic work. For Graschopf it is the mysterious and unapproachable, for Morgenstern it is an equivalent for an aspect of her inner human life and her personal experiences.
Like no other art fair, Vienna Contemporary combines the best from Europe's West and East and is not for nothing considered a place for surprising new discoveries. The curated special show ZONE 1, in 2022 we presented porcelain sculptures by Julia Belova here, is dedicated to emerging young talents with ties to Austria.
With its unique selection of contemporary art, a dense supporting program, performances and guided tours, Vienna Contemporary Wien is once again moving to the center of the international art calendar this fall, inviting visitors to an intensive week of discovery in the name of the visual arts.
